junauda

Pleasure Rebel is a new seasonal performance series featuring artists working in dance, performance art and video, from the Twin Cities and beyond. Come see artists challenge the boundaries of queer art forms.

Featuring Junauda Petrus, Nicole M Smith, and Mad King Thomas

LOVE TONES for the Universal Goddess | Junauda Petrus This piece is a whole bunch of storytellings that I feel have a pattern, and eventually can become a map to the true sweet wild self. I also am making myself breathe and smile inside of the existential tension between pleasure and celibacy, joy and hope, laughter and creativity. I realize it is life and I am dancing to shake all of the fear out and I am trying to make myself sit still too and just be quiet [the] NICOE SHOW | Nicole M Smith a sprinkling of this- a lil bit of that- I’m still stirring up the ingredients to this piece; things are simmering, I keep tasting its flava, swimming in its juices, and awaiting the final result(s). looking forward to us sharing air on April 30th, when I’ll bring all that’s been cooking, to the table. can’t wait to have you as my guest(s) of honour..-
Nicole M Smith: artist, cook, non-conformist, (grand)daughter, sister, sistah, thinker, ponderer, smart-ass, music lover, solo-dance-partier, loves love, [tries to] practice peace, writer, LOVES candyland, BLACK, QUEER, loud, digs laughter & going on dates (alone, or with company); likes to tear shit up….. An alien, a jackalope and Rudolf Steiner walk into a bar | Mad King Thomas
Mad King Thomas is the choreographic collaboration of Tara King, Theresa Madaus & Monica Thomas. They make dances that are sometimes also telephone calls, gallery installations, house parties, fake family reunions and bad plays. They are currently asking questions about home, family, identity and geography, as well as lighter subjects like birth and death.
