A poll released by Public Policy Polling (PDF) shows that Minnesotans narrowly support legalizing same-sex marriage. 47 percent of those polled said they wanted gay marriage legalized while 45 percent said it shouldn’t be legal. 8 percent weren’t sure.
Only 23 percent of Minnesotans said that gay couples should have no relationship rights, while 32 percent approved of civil unions and 43 percent went for full marriage rights.
The poll was conducted from Jan. 18 to 20. The margin of error was 3 percent.
Public Policy Polling very closely predicted the outcome of the marriage amendment vote this fall. On Nov. 3, the firm had the amendment failing 52 percent to 45 percent. The actual vote was 53 percent to 47 percent.
