Fourteen MN mayors have signed on for marriage equality

Freedom to Marry’s campaign to get mayors on record in support of same-sex marriage looks to be a big success in Minnesota. Fourteen mayors from around the state have signed on to be Mayors for the Freedom to Marry. And the list includes mayors heading cities outside the Twin Cities metro area.

Here’s the list of Minnesota mayors:

Bruce Ahlgren – Cloquet, MN
Ardell Brede – Rochester, MN
Mike Gamache – Andover, MN
Shep Harris – Golden Valley, MN
James Hovland – Edina, MN
Tim Hultmann – Long Lake, MN
Jeffrey Jacobs – St. Louis Park, MN
Peter Lindstrom – Falcon Heights MN
Mike Maguire – Eagan, MN
Sandy Martin – Shoreview, MN
Don Ness – Duluth, MN
Sarah Reinhardt – Spring Park, MN
RT Rybak – Minneapolis, MN
Brad Tabke – Shakopee, MN

In neighboring states, only one mayor has signed on in Iowa, 2 in Wisconsin, and zero in North Dakota and South Dakota. In Illinois, which is considering legislation to legalize same-sex marriage, 6 mayors of signed on.
