Positive Leadership

On Thursday June 9,2011 The Minnesota AIDS Project hosted an event at Open Book in Minneapolis, MN.  The event debuted a short film project and follow up panel presentation aimed at increasing public awareness around the importance of continued funding to persons living with HIV and AIDS.

Public officials, legislators, staff of MAP and positive leaders engaged with the public to discuss the importance of continued funding for services.  The Positive Leaders project is an initiative of MAP to combat the stigma often associated with a diagnosis of HIV or AIDS.  Positive Leaders are individuals living with HIV and AIDS who have gone through advocacy training provided by the agency.

With an imminent Minnesota state government shut down looming, the topic of service interruption is heavy on many minds.  Learn more about impact to AIDS services through the HIV Action Network.
