The Star Tribune reports that at least four Twin Cities suburbs are poised to pass a domestic partner registry in their city. Already, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth, Rochester and Edina allow same-sex couples to register their domestic partnerships. While the registries don’t carry any specific benefits from the cities, they can be used to prove domestic partner to employers or other businesses that recognize same-sex couples.
According to the Strib, Bloomington, Richfield, Golden Valley and Robbinsdale currently have the issue before their city councils.
Moorhead, Minn., mulled the issue earlier this year but the effort was defeated.
