Yesterday, a Philadelphia jury ruled that the city of Philadelphia violated a local boy scout troop’s First Amendment rights when they tried to evict them from city-owned office space because their anti-LGBT positions violated city anti-discrimination ordinances. However, the Scout’s lease does not require the city to give a reason for trying to evict a tenant.

D.C. – On Tuesday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made a big deal of saying LGBT rights were “human rights” at a Pride reception at the State Department. However, it looks like the US government is complicit in rampant anti-gay violence in Iraq, helping protect Iraqi policemen and soldiers who are implicated in the murders and kidnappings. (EDGE)
New York – An anti-bullying bill passes New York’s state legislature. According to backers, it “creates tools for school administrators, teachers, parents. and students to address bullying and bias-related behavior of all kinds that interfere with student safety and learning,” and protects students both on the basis of sexual orientation and on the basis of gender identity.
