The National: Texas GOP Wants To Criminalize Same-Gender Marriage Ceremonies

by James Sanna June 21, 2010 blog, News No Comments

Texas is not a liberal bastion. That said, it’s still shocking to see the Texas Republican Party release a new platform calling for, among other things, the creation of “a felony offense for anyone who performs a marriage ceremony for a same-sex couple.”

Georgia – With the help of Georgia Equality (who also organized Sunday’s rally), a second gay man comes forward with very fuzzy charges that Keil Cronauer and Christopher Stanzel, the two Marines accused of the June 12 beating of 26-year-old gay Savannah resident Kieran Daly, attacked him four months ago, but he’s not sure. John Takats said that he didn’t press charges because police brushed him off, and said he must have provoked the attack. Meanwhile, allegations are coming to light that Daly used a racial slur against a truck driver in a road-rage incident in January. The trucker eventually punched Daly in the head a few times, too. Daly skipped Sunday’s rally supporting him to spend time with his children on Fathers’ Day. (Georgia Voice, Project Q Atlanta, WSAV-TV)

D.C. – Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repeal still in doubt because President Obama opposes funding for several additional funding items added by Congress, including money for transport aircraft the military has not asked for. (The Huffington Post)
