Ceara Sturgis, the other famous victim southern school district, woke up last Friday to find her school expunged her from her school’s yearbook entirely. Veronica Rodriguez, mother to the popular and highly successful student told the Jackson Free Press that she was surprised to open the book and find school had refused to acknowledge her daughter entirely, after it fought to keep Sturgis from using a photo with her in a tuxedo as her yearbook photo. Unlike in the case of the prom-denied Constance McMillen, in Sturgis’ case the ACLU has only threatened legal action if the Copiah County School District refused to let Sturgis use her tuxedoed photo. For their part, the district says they’re backed up by federal law.

D.C. – The Human Rights Campaign wants to play, too! They’re denying accusations from GetEQUAL that they have yet to respond to a request to participate in a Sunday’s big DADT repeal rally across the street from the White House, and say that they’re talking with GetEqual about cooperation. The protest is looking less organized by the day, however, with the head of GetEQUAL leaving on a trip last week, instead of meeting with the head of the Servicemembers’ Legal Defense Fund, the primary LGBT rights group driving the push for an end to Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Because of this missed meeting, SLDN’s executive director said, SLDN is not currently participating in the protest. Interesting choice by GetEQUAL, no? (The DC Agenda)
D.C. – Putting President Obama’s hospital visitation rights memo into action will take several months – a 60-day public comment period, plus a several-month-long period for the Department of Health and Human Services to write a new set of rules implementing the memo. Don’t go throwing out those Medical Directives quite yet. (Keen News Service)

Teh Interwebs – The Family Research Council comes out with yet another timely hard-hitting, and incisive report, detailing how the Employment Non-Discrimination Act will turn the United States into Canada.
