The National: Anti-Gay “Miss Beverly Hills” A Fraud, Says City

“We are dismayed by any potential association with the city of Beverly Hills, which has a long history of tolerance and respect,” Mayor Nancy Krasne told the Los Angeles Times.
Furthermore, the city said in a statement that it “does not sponsor a beauty pageant and has no association with Miss California USA. As such, there should be no individual claiming the title of Miss Beverly Hills.”
Ashley chose Beverly Hills as the city she would represent in the state-wide pageant, per contest rules. The city apparently had no say in being affiliated with a proponent of mass-murder.

D.C. – The Advocate’s Kerry Eleveld points out that Pentagon top brass and groups working to repeal DADT are on the same page in opposing a moratorium on discharges under the policy, but she doesn’t – or can’t – say if they are working together. That remains to be seen. The admirals and generals have emphasized that they will follow orders if Congress overturns the DADT law, but the degree to which they outright support an eventual repeal will be key to making a repeal politically palatable to Congress.
