Health department launches HIV focus groups

0

As TheColu.mn reported in early January, HIV infections among young gay and bisexual men have been increasing in Minnesota. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) along with Hennepin County and host of other programs have organized an effort to dialogue about this public health concern and are inviting gay and bisexual men ages 18 to 26 to share their thoughts about the rising HIV rates. For those that attend, the state is shelling out $25 each for target gift cards!

From an email from the health department:

“HIV infection rates among young gay/bi men ages 13-24 have nearly doubled in the last year. That’s the highest they’ve been since 1986.

The Minnesota Department of Health and Hennepin County Public Health are holding a focus group to gather input from young gay and bi men, ages 18-26 to help determine the causes and possible solutions to this situation.

Your answers and ideas could help to shape the direction of HIV Prevention work in Minnesota and benefit your friends, loved ones and community.  Please participate in this important process!”
