Every year, Minneapolis’ PFund Foundation gives out scholarships to young LGBTQA leaders in or entering GED programs, trade schools, colleges or graduate schools. They’re kind of a big deal, with students receiving awards between $1,000 and $5,000; in the past, they’ve given a financial boost to student leaders trying to make a dent in their schools’ homophobia and transphobia.
The scholarships are application-only, though, and sometimes students need a little push to help them complete their application. To help, District 202 is organizing a workshop tomorrow night at the Hennepin County Library where students can get help in applying, and they want your help (applicants, RSVP here).
“We’re looking for people who feel that they’re capable or skilled in writing, [and] applying to scholarships,” said Jason Bucklin, 202’s Program Manager.
Bucklin said that you should contact him if interested in helping out at the workshop – it’s a great way to give back to your community by helping a initiate new generation of leaders into the age-old queer plot to take over the world.
