SHARE YOUR STORY! We will be collecting audio and video stories from the Kink/BDSM/Leather communities. This year’s theme for Minnesota Leather Pride is “American Leather Story,” and this has inspired us to invite members of the Kink, BDSM, and Leather communities to share your stories with us.
So many of the stories from the lives of our people have been lost to us, so now we want to collect what you have to say about your experience. Maybe it’s about how you discovered your favorite kink, maybe it’s a great scene you were part of, maybe it’s the first piece of leather, gear or toy you experienced.
Our first goal is to collect your story. If you allow, we would like to post some of these stories through www.mnleatherpride.org, and to share these stores with the Leather Archives & Museum

She has released four albums—The Teaches of Peaches, Fatherfucker, Impeach My Bush, I Feel Cream—and a new album is forthcoming. She has collab- orated and appeared as a guest vocalist on albums by P!nk, R.E.M., Iggy Pop, Major Lazer, and Christina Aguilera, to mention a few. Her songs have been featured in dozens of films and TV shows including Mean Girls, Lost in Translation, Whip It, 30 Rock, Ugly Betty, South Park, and True Blood. Peaches has per- formed in more than fifty countries and has constantly toured the world for the past fourteen years.
–About Hunter Valentine–
Now based in Brooklyn, the band started making waves in Toronto in 2005 when original members Kiyomi McClosky (lead vocals and guitar) and Laura Petracca (vocals and drums) formed the group and came out with their first self-financed EP. Since then, Hunter Valentine has released three full-length albums. Working with such producers as Greg Nori (Sum 41, Iggy Pop), Julius “Juice” Butty (Alexis on Fire, City and Color, Protest the Hero), and Ian Blurton (The Weakerthans, Amy Milan, Cursed, Lowest of the Low). Their blatant disregard for a typical girl-group sound has garnered them international attention. The girls’ success has taken them on tour around the world and back, opening for such artists as Sum 41 and Cyndi Lauper.
–About MAYDA–
Mayda is a young yet seasoned Minnesota-based multi-musician/artist/producer whose work has been heard around the globe. Heralded locally by The Current for her “undeniably fresh R&B-infused pop,” the petite yet larger-than-life pop songstress swings between pared-down acoustic struts, full-band funkadelic blasts, and electronic drumbeats and synth flourishes, to brings her slick, expansive, and evolving pop sound to life. This June, Mayda will collaborate with Mu Theater Arts on DeMayda’d, a one-woman developmental show at the Guthrie Theater.

Ready to earn those patches? GRRRL SCOUT is gearing up for its Second Annual Pride event SUMMER CAMP. With a strong commitment to breaking conformity, GRRRL SCOUT curates a unique array of entertainment, partners and offerings for each and every event. Summer Camp is no different. This year we will be pulling out all the stops.
Summer Camp, although bearing some similarities, is far from any ordinary cabin getaway. We have added our own “Prideful” twist. In addition to our normally scheduled event entertainment (e.g., pool tables, pinball, burlesque, bonfires, photo opportunities, dance offs and arm-wrestling contests) we have added a few new features that will certainly sweeten the deal. Stay tuned on Facebook for special announcements.
New Campsite:
To accommodate the 900+ patrons that attended last year’s event, we have decided to move to a larger venue. This year’s Summer Camp will be hosted just down the street at The Cabooze, offering triple the space, an awesome patio, ample parking and a location directly off the light rail for easy commute. West Bank for life!
Party Bus:
Need a lift? Take the bus to Summer Camp! GRRRL SCOUT is offering a free shuttle service from two Minneapolis locations. The (party) bus offers limited seating (45 people) but routes will be running from 9 p.m.–12:30 a.m. during the eve of the event. Service is offered on a first come first served basis.
Bus Pick Ups:
• Walker Sculpture Garden (Stop times: 9:00, 10:15, 11:15 and 12:15 p.m)
• Pat’s Tap (9:45, 10:45, 11:45 p.m)

Late Night Patio Snacks: A night full of dancing can certainly work up an appetite. We’ll be serving up all the campfire classics and more at the Cabooze Canteen on the patio. Menu coming soon.
Parking and Transportation:
The Cabooze is located directly off the Franklin Avenue (Light Rail) stop. Bike racks available for those that prefer a non-motorized commute. Get there early to secure your sweet VIP spot just outside the front door. The venue offers two free parking lots adjacent to the building. Additional parking can be found at the Minneapolis American Indian Center free of charge.
