“Dykes Do Drag” – the title says a mouthful but not all there is to say.
Dykes Do Drag is comprised of queers of all genders and orientations, celebrating an expanding continuum of gender expression and performance in the Upper Midwest for 15 years. This edgy performance art cabaret features the Twin Cities’ best as well as newcomers in traditional Drag and burlesque, with live music, boi-lesque, modern dance, video and visual art, and lip-synching in enticing and exciting hilarity.
A few more bombastic terms to describe DDD include but are not limited to: sexy, radical, entertaining, titillating, kinky and weird. We perform 5 times a year at the Bryant-Lake Bowl!

christpherstreet

As an official kick-off to Pride week, plan to spend your Monday evening enjoying a fantastic time at Mattie’s on Main as we present the first public stage reading of our full length musical “Christopher Street.”

It’s 1978 and three small town, middle-American, young men find their way to New York City, each for their own reason. They find themselves smack dab in the middle of the Christopher Street Liberation Day festival, where they come face to face with a cast of colorful characters and big personalities. They end up in desperate need and are taking under-wing by the gay community. We see a group of friends deal with these boys and with each other in a post-Stonewall, pre-AIDS period where everything was changing very quickly. The musical shows the human beneath the paint of our communities more outrageous characters, and points out how much we can learn about ourselves when we open ourselves up. There will be a staged reading of the script and performances of the entirety of the score. Music and Lyrics by Martino and Seth Gabriel-Mayotte, Book by Seth Gabriel-Mayotte

outtcfilmfest
Celebrate Twin Cities pride!

Twin Cities Film Fest OUT Festival is proudly screening four films on Wednesday, June 24th at the Theatres of Mall of America as a kick off to the 2015 Twin Cities Pride celebration.

Cost: $10 per screening or $15 for both

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

4:30pm: Festivites begin at at the Star Bar inside MOA Theatres at Mall of America

5:30pm: Film Screening – NOTES FROM THERE (dramatic short film) and REGARDING SUSAN SONTAG (feature documentary)

NOTES FROM THERE (Director – Ann Prim in Attendance) This visually stunning dramatic film centers on Pepca and Martine who are female lovers and dance collaborators torn apart by the immigration arrest of Martine. They must learn to be there, no matter where there is.

REGARDING SUSAN SONTAG is an intimate and nuanced investigation into the life of one of the most influential and provocative thinkers of the 20th century. Passionate and gracefully outspoken throughout her career, Susan Sontag became one of the most important literary, political and feminist icons of her generation. The documentary explores Sontag’s life through archival materials, accounts from friends, family, colleagues, and lovers, as well as her own words, as read by Patricia Clarkson. From her early infatuation with books to her first experience in a gay bar; from her early marriage to her last lover, REGARDING SUSAN SONTAG is a fascinating look at a towering cultural critic and writer whose works on photography, war, illness, and terrorism still resonate today.

7:00pm: Pre-screening event at the Star Bar in Mall of America Theatres

7:30pm: Film Screening – PUTTING THE RIBBON BACK ON (documentary short) and EAT WITH ME
