Photographer Ryan Coit is opening a new exhibition at the Saloon on Friday, Sept. 19 focusing on what makes the Saloon great: men.

“It’s a collection of men, gay men of Minneapolis,” Coit told “It’s just simple black and white portraits.”

The collection encompasses Minneapolis’ gay men of all shapes, sizes, and ages, stylized artistically. “This is a collection of portrait photography showing just a fraction of the MEN that make up the gay community of Minneapolis,” Coit said. “All the photos are focused on people’s eyes. No editing of wrinkles or blemishes. The images are honest and true.”

In developing the exhibit, Coit says, “We are a record of ourselves. Our love, loss, accomplishments and joy are painted on our scars and our wrinkles. To look closely into a strangers eyes is to feel their story.”
