LGBT Youth Pride moves to Seward in 2014

Youth Pride, an event for LGBTQ middle and high school students, will be held on Thursday, June 5th.

Youth Pride has been in existence for more than a decade and serves as a drug and alcohol free alternative for youth who often cannot attend much of Twin Cities Pride’s events.

The event is sponsored by the Minnesota School OUTreach Coalition and Shift.mn, an anti-tobacco project of Rainbow Health Initiative. 2014’s event will have open mic performances, food, and organization tables much like the larger Twin Cities Pride Festival later in June.

Traditionally held in Loring Park, Youth Pride has moved in recent years. In 2012, the event moved to St. Paul’s Newell Park. For 2014, the event will be held at Matthews Park in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis.
