According to OutFront Minnesota, a vote on the Safe and Supportive Minnesota Schools Act is set for Thursday in the Senate.
The Senate’s floor session is scheduled to begin at noon on Thursday where the bill is expected to be taken up. The bill passed the House last session, and if passed by the Senate, the House will have to concur with the significant changes that have been made to the bill. Then it will go to Gov. Mark Dayton who is expected to sign it into law.
The bill has the support of a diverse range of cultural and civic groups, but is being opposed by social conservatives mainly because of the inclusion of LGBT students in the bills anti-bullying protections.
