[sws_yellow_box box_size=”100″]Minnesota State Mankato hosts LGBTIAQ Film Festival March 26-29 [/sws_yellow_box]

Four films will be featured over four days in Minnesota State University, Mankato’s first-ever lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersexual, ally, queer (LGTBTIAQ) film festival from Wednesday to Saturday, March 26-29.
The LGBTIAQ Film Festival is free and open to the public. Free popcorn will be provided, and other concessions will be available for purchase. A different film will be shown each night at 7 p.m. in Centennial Student Union’s Ostrander Auditorium. The schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, March 26: “Bridegroom,” (English, 80 minutes)
Thursday, March 27: “Reaching for the Moon,” (English, 118 minutes)
Friday, March 28: “Mosquita y Mari,” (Spanish with English subtitles, 86 minutes)
Saturday, March 29: “Blue is the Warmest Color,” (French with English subtitles, 187 minutes); this film has rating of NC-17, meaning it is rated greater than R. It has an extended scene with sexual content and is For Mature Audiences Only.
If classes elect to offer attendance at these films as an opportunity for class/extra credit, a sign-up table will be managed. The LGBTIAQ Film Festival is co-sponsored by Minnesota State Mankato’s LGBT Center, Women’s Center, Memorial Library and the Minnesota State Mankato student programming group IMPACT (Innovative Memorable Programming Achieving Campus Togetherness), which is advised by staff in Minnesota State Mankato’s Student Activities Office.

[sws_yellow_box box_size=”100″] Public Reading, Greg Hewett, the Quatrefoil Library’s Writer-in-Residence [/sws_yellow_box]

Greg Hewett, author most recently of DARKACRE (Coffee House Press, 2010), has been selected as the next resident in Coffee House Press’s Writers and Readers Library Residency Program.

A longtime professor of English at Carleton College in Northfield, MN, Greg will spend his residency exploring Quatrefoil’s collection of GLBT-related materials, including contemporary and historical books, periodicals, film, and audio recordings. You can follow Greg’s residency at chpinthestacks.tumblr.com.

The Quatrefoil Library is one of the country’s oldest and largest lending libraries devoted exclusively to GLBT related materials. Incorporated in 1983, opened in 1986, and now located in the Spirit on Lake building on Lake Street, the Library has over 14,000 books, 500 different periodicals, 3,000 videos, newsletters, posters, travel guides, and many other interesting collections, such as scripts, comics, children’s books CDs, Braille books and historical erotica, all GLBT-related.

On Thursday, March 27th at 7pm Greg will give a public presentation and read new work inspired by his time in the library.

[sws_yellow_box box_size=”100″] Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus presents “I Am Harvey Milk,” featuring special guests the Minnesota Boychoir [/sws_yellow_box]

Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus presents the Upper Midwest premiere of I Am Harvey Milk, written by Broadway composer Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party, The Addams Family, Big Fish). Co-commissioned by TCGMC, “I Am Harvey Milk” is a 12-movement oratorio accompanied by chamber orchestra and featuring a soprano soloist, baritone soloist and boy soprano that tells the story of a gay American icon. Special guests will include the Minnesota Boychoir.
