Minnesota for Marriage has put out eight Man on the Street videos depicting “voices of real Minnesotans sharing why they believe marriage between one man and one woman is important and thus worth preserving.” But a closer look at some of those real Minnesotans shows that several are activists committed to more than just “preserving marriage.”
The sixth installment of the Man on the Street series features Chris Heeb, executive director of Good News for Israel.
Here are a few of the things Heeb had to say about the LGBT community:
On gay pride in Jerusalem (PDF):
World Pride 2005, a mass international gathering of homosexual, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered individuals, is themed, “Love without borders,” with the goal of bringing a “new focus to an ancient city through a massive demonstration of LGBT digity, pride and boundary-crossing celebraion. In these times of intolerance and suspicion, from the home of three of the world’s great religions, we will proclaim that love knowsno borders.”
There is still time to appeal to the Mayor of Jerusalem, Uri Lupolianski, and ask him NOT to allow the city of Jerusalem…the city on which God has stamped His name…to be polluted. Call GNFI for further details.
On Patricia Ireland heading up the YWCA (PDF):
Note from the Editor:
Wow! Its unbelievable to fathom that the Young Women’s Christian Association has put in charge the #1 lesbian feminist, pro-abortionist in the country as their new president and spokesperson… WOW! What has this organization come to? It just goes to show that Jesus said in the last days even the elect will be deceived if possible. Well, this is so blatant and over the top it has me speechless! It is truly the blind leading the blind. LORD, have mercy on this organization and wake it up! AMEN.
On Jesus (PDF):
Jesus took in the venom of the enemy and knew intimately in His being every murder, rape, abortion, incest, divorce, homosexual act, terrorism, genocide and suicide. He was made one with all sin and falleness and raped by it on the Cross. Jesus became the atrocities of the Holocaust and an even a greater Holocaust to come, the Great Tribulation. .. “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” Colossians 2:15
On Canada and hate crimes laws (PDF):
Editor’s Note:
We really need to pay attention to our northern border They seem to be losing it. Redefining marriage and banning Bible verses as hate speech. Slippery Slope? They `ve fallen off the cliff! The Barbarians are at the Gates, will the church speakout???
When pastor John Piper blamed a tornado that his Minneapolis on Lutheran support for LGBT equality, Heeb agreed (PDF):
6. Conclusion: The tornado in Minneapolis was a gentle but firm warning to the ELCA and all of us: Turn from the approval of sin. Turn from the promotion of behaviors that lead to destruction. Reaffirm the great Lutheran heritage of allegiance to the truth and authority of Scripture. Turn back from distorting the grace of God into sensuality. Rejoice in the pardon of the cross of Christ and its power to transform left and right wing sinners.
Editors Note: Pastor Piper and I do not agree on some key theological issues in regard to Israel and the Church. But we are in full agreement that God will use whatever is necessary to get our attention and correct us if we go astray! CH
On progressive religious traditions (PDF):
On another note, if you haven’t noticed there is a movement from the left side of the theological spectrum, saying we shouldn’t preach against sexual sin. They say that we shouldn’t misrepresent Jesus by implying to them that they are not a child of God ifthey continue in a destructive lifestyle. Well, we’re going to stick with what Paul had to say… “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” -1 Cor.5:9-11
The typical “happy-meal” message in most churches today, that we’re all children of God regardless of the gross, sinful immorality (i.e. gay-ordained clergy, pulpits that either promote or remain silent on abortion) promotes the delusional false message that Jesus is just one-big warm-fuzzy instead of a Holy, Righteous judge who is coming to Judge the world. In Rev. 3:16 Jesus makes it clear, that those who stradle the fence of lukewarm “faith” and tolerate sin – He will spit out of His mouth. God help us in these Last Days!
The third installment of the Man on the Street series includes. The video doesn’t mention it, but both are candidates for the Minnesota Legislature. Jim is running for state Senate on Minneapolis’ north side and Cindy is running for the House under the banner of “Real Family Values.”
Jim Lilly made headlines in the early 1990s when he successfully sued to block the city of Minneapolis from granting domestic partner benefits for its employees. The court case means that no city government in the state can offer such benefits for employees.
Lilly said it was about children. “The main issue of a family is raising children,” Lilly told the Star Tribune at the time. “Without children, families have no meaning.”
Lilly was a member of the Minnesota Family Council and the Star Tribune described him as a friend of Tom Prichard, the president of the Minnesota Family Council.
“We have government policies that over the years have served to undermine the family,” he told the Strib.
“Government funding for domestic partners, he says, amounts to a public investment in a lifestyle that does not produce and nurture children.”
The most recent Man on the Street video features Tiffany Strabala who frequently lobbied the Anoka Hennepin School board to retain that district’s anti-LGBT policies.
Strabala was also a recent candidate for the Anoka Hennepin School Board.
On January 24, 2011, Strabala told the school board,
“I believe it is not the schools responsibility to introduce or teach students the lifestyle of homosexuality,” she said. “Introducing and learning about the homosexual and transgender lifyle is not core curriculum.”
On March 28, 2011 she told the board, “I don’t think there should be special protection for a special group of people.”
On Feb. 13, 2012, she said, “What LGBT students actually feel is discomfort, or in the manipulative rhetoric of unsafe.”
And on Jan. 9, 2012, she said, “The idea that same–sex attraction and volitional same–sex acts constitute an identity that should be valued is a subjective and arguable belief,” said Strabala, “It is not a fact.”
