Marcus Bachmann, Michele Bachmann’s husband and the owner of a counseling business accused of peddling discredited “pray the gay away” therapies, told the New York Times over the weekend that like First Lady Michelle Obama’s cause celebre of fighting obesity, he too would champion an issue in the White House: defeating marriage equality.
“I’ve decided my cause is not going to be happy meals,” he said at an Iowa campaign stop.
“We are going to be the message-givers. We are going to get this message across,” he said. “Marriage is between one man and one woman. We are going to promote families.”
His wife, Michele, has been running a campaign on passing a federal amendment to the constitution to ban same-sex marriage and spearheaded an effort to do the same in Minnesota.
