Major Gifts Officer

Description

The Minnesota AIDS Project seeks a full-time development professional to manage and expand its major giving program. The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of 150 to 200 major donors and prospects, securing major gifts ($1,000 or more) to support the efforts of the Minnesota AIDS Project.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The Major Gift Officer supervises a development associate, interns, and volunteers, and reports to the Director of Development.

Candidates should have at least three years of progressively responsible experience in cultivating, soliciting, and/or stewarding current and potential major donors. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, familiarity with the challenges and opportunities in working in the HIV and GLBT communities of Minnesota, and significant experience in volunteer leadership and management. The successful applicant should also have extraordinary interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically.
Desired Qualifications

* Bachelor’s degree and/or comparable experience
* At least three years prior experience in major gift development
* Ability to motivate and work effectively with key MAP staff, board and volunteers in a goal-oriented, time-sensitive environment
* Strong demonstrated leadership experience
* Work well under stress and tight deadlines
* Knowledge of and sensitivity to HIV issues
* Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds

SHIELD Facilitator/Recruiter

Description

The Minnesota AIDS Project seeks a full-time small group facilitator and program recruiter for its SHIELD program. SHIELD is a time-limited small group HIV prevention and harm reduction program that is dedicated to working with young gay and bi men with chemical health concerns.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

* Small group facilitation
* Program recruitment
* Organizing and facilitating monthly booster sessions
* Assessment of client need and making appropriate referrals

Desired Qualifications

* The ideal candidate must be comfortable discussing sexual health and drug use behavior from a harm reduction standpoint.
* Small group facilitation experience is a must as well as experience working with our target population.
* A demonstrated ability to work in an environment that requires a high degree of personal responsibility and team accountability is essential to success in this position, as is a demonstrated ability to assume the trust and confidence of men who have sex with men.
* Knowledge drawing from working in human services, social work, public health, education and/or related fields. Bachelor’s Degree or two years of equivalent experience.
* Experience with HIV prevention and health education is a plus.
* Demonstrated comfort in addressing gay/bi sexual health and/or chemical health. Individuals from the targeted population strongly encouraged to apply.

HIV Case Manager

Description

The Minnesota AIDS Project seeks a full-time HIV Metro Case Manager.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

The Case Manager is responsible for comprehensive client need assessments, care coordination, risk reduction education, client advocacy, and HIV disease and medical care education.
Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be comfortable having direct and honest discussions with clients regarding sensitive topics such as sexual activity and drug use behavior. The ideal candidate will also have crisis intervention skills and be able to thoroughly assess client suicidality, safety, etc. Must be able to work with medical and social service providers throughout the community. Must be comfortable documenting interactions with clients and providers in a timely manner. Candidates will also have:

* An undergraduate or graduate degree in social work, public health, human services
* A minimum of two years employment experience providing social services in a job that involved carrying a caseload and the following duties: psychosocial assessments, interdisciplinary care coordination, resource development, development and utilization of client-centered care plans
* Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving and organizational skills
* Experience working with diverse populations
* Comfort working independently and as part of a team
* A desire to identify ongoing training needs. Willing to learn and apply new skills

PrideAlive Health Educator

Description

The Minnesota AIDS Project seeks an energetic, outgoing, full–time health educator with experience in coordinating volunteers for its PrideAlive program, a peer–based community empowerment program focusing on the sexual health of gay/bi men. This position is part of a work group dedicated to stopping HIV through social connections, education and community empowerment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities

* Program recruiting
* Maintaining and training volunteers
* Organizing social and educational events
* Conducting outreach in gay venues and on social networking sites
* Performing field–based HIV testing

Desired Qualifications

PrideAlive’s Health Educator will have a demonstrated commitment to MAP’s mission, experience and knowledge in HIV and gay/bi men’s health, and familiarity with innovative community level health education strategies. Experience and demonstrated skills in community organizing, volunteer recruitment and/or mentoring peers is critical. Experience conducting HIV testing and Internet outreach in gay chat rooms is a plus. A demonstrated ability to work in an environment that requires a high degree of personal responsibility and team accountability is essential to success in this position, as is a demonstrated ability to assume the trust and confidence of men who have sex with men. Also desired are:

* Knowledge drawing from working with volunteers, public health, education, community organizing, and/or related fields. Bachelor’s Degree or two years of equivalent experience
* Demonstrated experience or ability to engage and maintain volunteers to plan social events, conduct outreach, and participate in program activities
* Experience in working productively in a team and community organizing skills to build community participant involvement
