Chemical Dependency Counselors (Full Time, Benefits Eligible)

PRIDE Institute, the nation’s first and leading provider of chemical dependency and mental health treatment services to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community, is seeking an experienced chemical dependency counselor/mental health practitioner to become a part of our team. We operate Rule 31 residential and intensive outpatient programs in Eden Prairie and Minneapolis. We are expanding our integrated treatment services for persons with sexual compulsivity, chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders.

Successful candidates will possess the following required qualifications:

• LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor) or be eligible to provide chemical dependency treatment services under Minnesota 9530.6450, subpart 5; AND
• LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) or LGSW (Licensed Graduate Social Worker) or other Mental Health Practitioner
• Have experience treating clients with co-occurring disorders;

Additional preferred qualifications include:

• Two or more years experience as a chemical dependency counselor
• Program development experience
• Experience working with culturally diverse populations
• Demonstrated practice and interest in treating sexually compulsive behavior

YOUTH LEADER – Shades of Yellow

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Committed to making the Youth Empowerment Project a successful project within SOY by making sure the goals are being met, and participants are actively involved.
• Outreach to Hmong LGBTQ and ally youth on the importance of participating in YEP.
• Attend conferences, trainings, and convening to familiarize and be updated on current trends on LGBTQ youth empowerment and organizing.
• Organize campaigns, events, and mini-projects within YEP with the mentorship of Program Coordinator.
• Make sure to establish retention programs to sustain not only the project but participants involved.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide personal counseling advices to LGBTQ individuals
• Creating and implementing projects from start to finish.

Administrative duties
• Organize paperwork
• Assist the Executive Director and Programs Coordinator as needed

Other duties as it directly or indirectly relates to this position not described above.
• Must have strong experiences in working with Hmong youth and/or LGBT youth between the ages of 16-24.
• Although it is not required that candidates have advocacy and social justice experience, he/she must be willing to learn and grasp the concept of advocacy work within three months of hiring process.
• Must have knowledge of working as a leader in the capacity of school organizations, churches, and/or the community.
• Knowledge of GLBTQQI issues and advocacy
• Ability to meet new people and maintain these relationships
• Positive and optimistic attitudes are essential to be successful in this position
• Public-speaking skills
• Ability to work with nonprofit organizations and community based leaders
