Bachmann on DADT: ‘It’s worked’

0

Rep. Michele Bachmann voted against repealing the military’s ban on openly LGBT servicemembers. She told the St. Cloud Times on Thursday that Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is doing what it is supposed to do: keeping gays and lesbians quiet. The measure passed the House on Thursday and will be including in an upcoming defense bill.

“It’s worked since it was put into place,” she said. “People with same-sex attraction are allowed to serve in the military,” she said. “It’s just a matter of not making that a vocal issue.”

“It’s just an odd sense of priorities,” Bachmann said, “when we’re in the midst of two wars, we have this unstoppable leak in the Gulf of Mexico, out-of-control spending and unmanageable debt.”
