Tickets start at $40, and go on sale Tuesday, March 31 at 10:00 a.m. through the Orchestra Hall box office at 612-371-5656 and online at http://www.minnesotaorchestra.org/buy/tickets/browse-calendar/eventdetail/572/-/an-evening-of-classic-lily-tomlin#.VRrB6st0wuR

Lily Tomlin, one of America’s foremost comediennes, continues to venture across an ever-widening range of media, starring in television, theater, motion pictures, animation, and video. Throughout her extraordinary career, Tomlin has received numerous awards, including six Emmys, two Tonys, and a Grammy. Most recently, Tomlin was awarded the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors which each year “celebrates five extraordinary individuals who have spent their lives elevating the cultural vibrancy of our nation and the world.” Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein said, “Lily Tomlin has made us laugh and continues to amaze us with her acting talent and quick wit.”

Tomlin began her television career in 1966 and In December 1969, she joined the cast of the top-rated Laugh-In and immediately rose to national prominence with her characterizations of Ernestine, the irascible telephone operator, and Edith Ann, the devilish six year old. She has had numerous guest appearances and roles, including President Bartlett’s assistant Debbie Fiderer on West Wing.

Tomlin has starred in over twenty films and continues to entertain. Her new film, Grandma, was released at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and is a darkly funny and also touching film of one long day in the life of one very frayed family. Tomlin leads the picture as the acerbic grandmother to the urgently troubled Sage, played by Julia Garner.

Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda star in 2015 Netflix comedy series Grace and Frankie. The single-camera comedy centers on nemeses Grace (Fonda) and Frankie (Tomlin), whose lives are turned upside down when their husbands announce they are in love with each other and plan to get married. The women, much to their own dismay, find that their lives are permanently intertwined and, much to their surprise, they find they have each other.

Tomlin can be found on the popular website for women,www.WOWOWOW.com, and participates with other celebrities such as Whoopi Goldberg, Candice Bergen, Liz Smith, Jane Wagner, Peggy Noonan, Marlo Thomas and Lesley Stahl to create an on-line community which is owned and run by women for women of all ages and origins. Tomlin’s entire career in art, text, photos and videos can be found atwww.lilytomlin.com. Tomlin is currently working on new stage, radio, television and social media projects, including an educational game app for kids, City Adventures of Edith Ann, based on her beloved character, Edith Ann.
