Boo Who? A not-quite-safe-for-work look at Halloween

It never ceases to amaze that with Halloween now taking second place only to Christmas as the top grossing holiday for retailers, it is aptly referred to by many as The Gay High Holiday (TGHH)! Well, I will tell you that this year was incredible with all of the hobgoblins getting their spook on. I was out and about from Thursday night right on through the end and I saw enough to make me proud – very proud – of our ability to accessorize.

In my traversing the downtown party scene I hit gay and straight clubs alike and saw delightful costumes ranging from the red plastic cup caravan racing through the W in the Foshay tower to a sexier Satan than I have ever seen before at The Saloon. Penises seemed to be the fascination of quite a number of partygoers as well. From the men donning great dongs to the lesbian who carried one around in a box like a prized possession (still don’t understand that), the abundance of appendages did bring me back to Halloween a number of years back when the thought of a severed penis was still looming large in the minds of the entire world: the shocking tale of Lorena Bobbitt saying ‘enough is enough’ with a kitchen knife. I wanted to share a number of pictures from this year’s feast along with a recipe for next year’s gruesome edibles for your own Halloweenie table.

Bobbitt’s Bites

Mix up a tablespoon of lemon juice (freshly squeezed) and a cup and a half of sour cream.
Add to that another tablespoon of finely minced chives.
Cut a dozen cocktail wieners in half (set aside).
Place a generous teaspoon of the sour cream mixture onto a cocktail bread square (you can use rye but I much prefer the pumpernickel myself.
Next place a dollop of Heinz cocktail sauce (BBQ sauce will work if that is more to your liking)
Now place a half-wienie upright in the center of the spread atop the bread.

There you have it… no more than a mouthful (which is more than wasteful)!

A perfect bite!

I can’t wait to see what is in fashion next year for TBGHH. Here’s a slideshow of Halloween night.

(Recently Lorena and John Wayne Bobbit had a brief reunion on television in which the two made amends) John Wayne even apologized to Lorena – I don’t know why but I find that a bit odd.
