BOOM! Theater presents: Based on a Totally True Story
Friday, October 11 at 7:30pm – Saturday, October 26 at 7:30pm
People’s Center
425 20th Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55454

A contemporary comedy that moves at the speed of lightning, BASED ON A TOTALLY TRUE STORYchronicles the hilarious, bittersweet misadventures of twenty-something New Yorker Ethan Keene. A semi-successful comic book writer by day (he writes The Flash for DC Comics) and struggling playwright by night, Ethan’s world is turned upside down when a veteran Hollywood producer decides she wants to turn one of Ethan’s unproduced plays into a big-budget horror movie — possibly starring Nicole Kidman. With that tasty carrot clouding his vision, Ethan struggles to be a loving, supportive, giving partner to his boyfriend, Michael Sullivan, a Village Voice reporter and budding novelist. On top of which Ethan’s lovable dad announces that he’s leaving Ethan’s mom for a married woman — and can he please stay with Ethan and Michael until he finds a new place to live? Hearts are broken, lessons learned, and dreams deferred in this quirky, offbeat romantic comedy of manners.

490 N Robert St. Saint Paul
TICKETS:

Mrs. Smith is back with a jazzy, snazzy evening of story and song about the heart-stopping highs and perilous lows of fame, fortune and cat ownership! From the comic imagination of actor David Hanbury, the inimitable antics of Mrs. Smith and her beloved cat Carlyle are on full display in her latest one-woman musical-comedy at Camp Cabaret.
The cat lady’s got her claws out when it comes to describing her experience on America’s Got Talent during this story- and song-filled evening of entertainment, while she and her Broadway Boys belt out some of Broadway’s biggest hits, including “Cabaret,” “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “The Cat That Got Away” and “The Ladies Who Lunch.” And the grand dame has also been known to shred a few electric guitar solos as well.
