Martina’s Broadway Cabaret: Bender-Gending!!!
October 3, 4 & 5 @ 7pm tickets: $10 in advance / $12 day of show

You have to believe this show is MAGIC!!! Martina Marraccino and Gabe Gabriel are back with a fresh new cast of talent from around the Twin Cities! Martina’s Broadway Cabaret is celebrating its 6th year at “the Bowl” and we’re pulling out all the stops this time. “Bender-Gending” is a collection of songs from off-Broadway hits, Broadway flops, Block-Buster classics, and the obscure never before heard anthem. The cast will be flipping the lid, and blurring the lines of traditional gender roles, performing songs written for and typically performed by the opposite gender. Featuring songs from shows like “Pippin”, “Xanadu”, “The Life”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Newsies”, “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Falsettoland”, “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”, “Grease”, “Shrek” and many more. In this year of revolutionary freedoms and tolerance in Minnesota come enjoy a night of wonderful songs and hearty laughs, and don’t forget to always “Let your Freak Flag fly!” This hilarious new cabaret will keep you humming each and every song for weeks to follow!

The Calof Series at Patrick’s Cabaret
Thursday, October 3rd at 7:30pm
Free to the public!

Spoken Word/Storytelling Artists:
Katherine Glover and Howard Lieberman

Singer/Songwriters:
John Fenner and Nikki Matteson

Joan Calof performed monologues and plays, and often sang at Red Eye Theatre, Cheap Theatre, The Playwrights’ Center, and Patrick’s Cabaret. She won several awards for her work, including a Loft Creative Nonfiction Award and a Playwrights’ Center Jones Commission. She was adventurous in her performances, her many travels, and in all her intellectual pursuits. When she passed away last winter she left a generous gift to Patrick’s Cabaret with instructions that it support programming and not be spent on a tribute. By naming this new series after her we’re able to do both.

Each evening will feature two spoken word/storytelling artists and two singer/songwriters to present works-in-progress to an audience that will be encouraged to offer feedback via dialogue with the performers. In addition, throughout the evening we’ll be offering free coffee and baked goods from our wonderful neighborhood sponsors: Peace Coffee & Birchwood Cafe

Free parking in both of the Patrick’s Cabaret parking lots, and on Minnehaha Avenue and Snelling Street. And a special thank you goes out to our wonderful, community sponsors: MRAC, KFAI, Peace Coffee and Birchwood Cafe!
