The National: This Is What A Bashing Looks Like

A surveillance camera at a nearby shop caught footage of last Friday’s vicious beating of 49-year-old Jack Price in Queens, NYC. The suspects claim they were beating Price in self-defense…for a full minute, while Price cowers on the pavement in a fetal position (via Joe.My.God). Police say the men taunted him with anti-gay slurs before beating Price, who is gay. The US Marshals announced the arrest, yesterday, of a second suspect in the case. Price is now in a medically-induced coma after sustaining a broken jaw, fractured ribs and a lacerated spleen, according to police.

Maine – Not only are the anti-LGBT forces in Maine being outspent almost 2-1, they’re being investigated for violating state campaign fundraising laws. It appears that over half of Stand For Marriage Maine’s $1.1 million war chest comes from the National Organization For Marriage ($425,000) and the Catholic Church ($270,000). No deadline has been set for the investigation, however, which means it will likely have no impact on the Nov. 3rd vote on Question 1, which seeks to overturn a law passed earlier this year that allows same-sex marriage. Chicago – A Chicago teacher tells his class taxes shouldn’t be spent on “black fags”: “How would you feel about your tax dollars going to pay some black fag in New York to take pictures of other black fags?” Students are fighting back, trying to get the teacher fired, while the teacher’s attorney backpedals. D.C. – The White House is silent on progress being made on a repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Or rather, they’re not silent, but Press Secretary Robert Gibbs doesn’t have his act together. What kind of priority are we? (Pam’s House Blend)

D.C. – Support for a bill put forward by Reps. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Jerry Nadler (D-NY) keeps growing. The Respect for Marriage Act now has 100 co-sponsors. (On Top Magazine)
