Theatre director and visual artist Scotty Gunderson, writer Jason Zabel, and choreographer Ashleigh Penrod combine movement, text, and colorful projections to explore what our future would look like if humans were permanently suspended in life-preserving Jell-O. A self-described “bi-cultural clown,” Francisco-Javier Benavides presents a new piece inspired by Chinese opera and the Mexican popular television of his childhood with fearless physical humor and disjointed language.
Eric Larson performs a piece in a series of his works queering folk tunes and nursery rhymes, using “Old McDonald Had a Farm” to delve into the complexities of being young, queer, and lucky. Multi-instrumental musician Steven Hobert creates a new experiment of combining projected visual art and improvised music.
Satirizing the manufactured authority of TED Talks and celebrating the theatricality of Powerpoint, newcomer Abe Shriner takes the stage for a lecture-style performance called “Meth Charities with Projections.” The evening is anchored by the visceral and justice-fueled words of award-winning poet and community mover-and-shaker Andrea Jenkins.

Now that we are in the middle of the holiday season, what better way to relieve that stress than to spend it with Dragged Out! We’ll get you all nice and warm!! We even have a couple special guests joining us for the night!

Throughout December, Dragged Out is teaming up with some of the other shows! Last winter, the Town House Bar held a “Hat and Mitten Drive” to support the homeless. The thought behind it was, warm hands = warm hearts. With the funds collected, the show directors then went out and purchased items, such as hats, mittens, scarves and socks to add to the items that the patrons brought in. Overall, it was a great success! We were able to bring hundreds of items to St. Stephen’s Outreach for distribution!
So throughout this night, we will be collecting money to support such a great cause!
Plus there will be plenty of time to get to shake your groove thang after the show!!
